On International Day of Education, we celebrate education as a fundamental human right and a powerful driver of opportunity, equity, and economic growth. Access to quality education—especially strong foundational learning in primary years—transforms lives, strengthens communities, and lays the groundwork for lifelong learning and workforce readiness.
The United States government plays a critical role in advancing international basic education around the world. Through strategic investments and global partnerships, U.S. leadership can help to expand access to inclusive, high-quality education, improve learning outcomes, and support the most marginalized children, including girls and children affected by conflict and crisis.
We call for sustained—and strengthened—U.S. leadership and funding for international basic education. Protecting and prioritizing these investments is critical to advancing U.S. strategic interests, promoting global prosperity, and ensuring that every child has the opportunity to learn, thrive, and contribute to a more stable and secure world.
