Mark Green expected to be named USAID Administrator

Congress
The House Appropriations Committee has started marking up their FY18 spending bills. The State-Foreign Operations bill (where basic education funding resides) is expected to be marked up late July. While there has been movement on FY18 appropriations, there are rumors of an omnibus (massive spending bill) or a continuing resolution (CR) circulating around Capitol Hill.

Ambassador Mark Green’s nomination for USAID Administrator is expected to go through before the July 4th recess. Speaker Ryan and Senator Tammy Baldwin spoke very highly of Ambassador Green during his confirmation hearing last week.
