BEC's Policy Priorities

  • Ensure full implementation of the Reinforcing Education Accountability in Development (READ) Act of 2017, to strengthen the monitoring, coordination, and effectiveness of USAID's Basic Education programs. 

  • Increase U.S. Support for international basic education assistance.

  • Increase the U.S. budget for International Affairs- the Function 150 account. 

  • Include early childhood education (ages 0-8) in USAID's next Education Strategy.

  • Promote gender & girls' education as a main focus of USAID's next Education Strategy. 

  • Strengthen effectiveness and accountability measures for U.S. international basic education programs. 

  • Raise awareness of the need for long-term education programs in regions in conflict and crisis.
