November 15, 2010 – Film Viewing with Gabriel Bol Deng of “The Lost Boys”

Summary

On November 15, the Basic Education Coalition and HOPE for Ariang Foundation hosted a film viewing and discussion of the award-winning documentary, Rebuilding Hope, with Gabriel Bol Deng, of the “Lost Boys.” The film follows Gabriel and two other “Lost Boys,” now in their twenties, on a journey back to Sudan to search for surviving family members and to rediscover and contribute to their homeland.  Upon his return, Gabriel founded the HOPE for Ariang Foundation and is devoted to helping other children in his home village of Ariang build a better future through education. 

Participants had an opportunity to speak with Gabriel and have a firsthand account of his life and efforts to bring lasting peace to Sudan through the power of education. The event took place Monday, November 15, 2010, from 4:30-6 pm in B-369 Rayburn House Office Building.
